Opportunities
Ph.D. students: If you are interested in “real world” challenges, come aboard. All researchers in the group are expected to have a good background in numerical methods and programming. We work with hands on equipment bringing context to problems. Most projects are being performed with a national laboratory or industry partner.
Outreach
Children’s Museum of Brazos Valley:
In June 2021, Dr. Prasad reached out to children from ages 3-11 years, to explore radioactivity and nuclear energy in simple and fun terms. Several activities such as make your own atoms, to experiment with a GM counter on bananas were included.
Chair, American Nuclear Society (ANS) Local Sections Committee (LSC), 2019-2021: Dr. Prasad served as the Chair of the ANS LSC which helps organize local sections stay connected with nuclear awareness and outreach activities at the grass root level. She has undertaken a number of reforms in this capacity, including helping in the revitalization efforts of various local sections, such as Arizona and Northern California.
Nuclear Professional Engineers (PE) Committee, American Nuclear Society: Dr. Prasad is an active member of the ANS PE-Exam committee which helps professionals obtain the NCEES PE license. This summer she is helping with exam review activities.
